Angels’ Blood Chapters 34–Epilogue Summary

This chapter-by-chapter summary of Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh contains spoilers.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 34

Raphael and Elena arrive at Michaela’s home to find her security team already taken down. They spot Uram in the main hall and go after him. Elena draws his attention while Raphael hits him with angelfire, and she shoots him with her specialized gun as Raphael badly damages his wing. Even so, Uram breaks through the wall and escapes.

As Raphael moves to give chase, Michaela’s broken body falls onto him. Uram had torn out her heart and replaced it with a ball of flame. Raphael pulls the fire out just in time for her body to begin healing. Elena and Raphael chase Uram toward the Hudson River but lose his trail over the water.

Back at the estate, Raphael learns that Uram believes killing another archangel will give him more power. Raphael keeps Michaela under heavy guard as bait. When Raphael and Elena return home, Jason shows up with news about a separate crisis.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 35

Jason arrives with an important update but agrees to wait an hour so Raphael can recover from his injuries. Over a quiet meal, Elena tends to his damaged wing, and they talk about Jason’s past and the tattoo on his face.

The conversation turns serious when Raphael asks if Elena would hunt him down if he ever turned like Uram. She admits she would but tells him he has something Uram doesn’t. His connection to his own humanity will keep him from falling into the same madness.

Angel of Blood

Uram survives his injuries by preying on several victims. With his strength restored, he decides to strike while his enemies still feel safe and makes Elena his first priority. Once she’s out of the way, no one will be able to track him. He decides to spare Michaela, but not out of mercy. He plans to keep her captive and drain her blood to sustain his power forever.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 36

Jason tells Raphael about Lijuan’s disturbing ability to reanimate the dead and the growing fear that she could build an army from them. Raphael orders Jason to keep a close watch on her territory.

Dmitri brings further updates. Geraldine didn’t make it, and Holly Chang is no longer human, but her transformation into a vampire is incomplete.

Then the Guild Director calls to report five drained bodies in Battery Park, confirming that Uram regained his strength far faster than anyone expected.

Raphael tries to reach Elena through their psychic connection but receives only a wave of pain and sickness. He finds Illium near a pier, badly hurt. Before passing out, Illium tells him that Uram used glamour to ambush them from the sky. Raphael knows Uram couldn’t have gone far while carrying Elena, and he begins a desperate search for her.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 37

Elena wakes up in a grisly chamber with far more bodies than the Guild reported. Uram has kept a starved vampire named Robert locked up for years just to witness his kills.

Uram breaks Elena’s ankle to assert dominance, but she uses the pain to sharpen her focus and sends sensory details to Raphael through their mental connection. She describes the smells and sounds of a nearby construction site to help him find her. Uram makes it clear he kept her alive only to lure Raphael.

Raphael blasts through the wall. Uram stomps on Elena’s broken ankle, and she blacks out. Raphael hits him from behind, and the fight moves into the sky, where Uram strikes Raphael’s wings with a blast of magical fire.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 38

Raphael and Uram battle above Manhattan. Raphael takes hits from angelfire but keeps shielding Elena. From the wreckage below, she fires her weapon and distracts Uram long enough for Raphael to drive a fatal blow through his heart.

After the battle, Raphael finds Elena on a narrow ledge, broken and barely alive. He kisses her to begin her transformation into a vampire as a last effort to save her. The ledge gives way, and they fall, but a group of angels catches them just in time.

A week later, Sara and Ransom sneak into Archangel Tower to find Elena. Dmitri stops them and tells them she’s in a coma and has been turned into a vampire. He won’t let them see her but takes a bag of her belongings. After they leave, Jason and Dmitri speak privately. Raphael also suffered life‑threatening injuries, and Dmitri vows to hold the territory together until Raphael is well enough to return.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 39

Raphael returns to the archangel council after three months of recovery. The others are surprised to see him, having assumed he was dead, and they had already begun dividing up Uram’s territory. Lijuan asks about the bloodborn state, and Raphael warns her that it only leads to mindless violence. Michaela dismisses Elena as a temporary tool, while Elijah offers his condolences.

Back at the Tower, Illium tells Raphael he regrets failing to protect Elena, and Raphael assures him he’s not to blame. Afterward, Raphael meets Sara in a public park and confirms Elena is alive but in a deep sleep. Sara asks to visit her, but Raphael refuses and flies away.

Angels’ Blood Chapter 40

Elena wakes up after a full year in a coma. She thinks she was turned into a vampire against her will and is furious. She sets firm conditions for her new life. Raphael must be her only source of blood and must stay faithful to her. He agrees without hesitation.

Then Elena notices she has dark wings. Raphael tells her she’s the first human ever transformed directly into an angel. During the battle, his body produced a rare substance called ambrosia, which, according to ancient legend, appears only when an archangel experiences true love.

Elena and Raphael step into their new life together, belonging to one another completely.

Angels’ Blood Epilogue

Elena is still too weak to get out of bed when Sara arrives at the Refuge. Sara explains that the Guild staged a massive strike to force Raphael to reveal Elena’s status. She’s stunned by the wings, but Elena reassures her she’s still the same person.

Outside, Raphael and Dmitri discuss the problem of having a mortal inside their secret stronghold. Dmitri suggests wiping Sara’s memories, but Raphael trusts Elena’s judgment about Sara’s loyalty. It shows just how much Elena has changed him.

Soon after, Jason returns after being wounded by Lijuan’s reanimated corpses. Raphael accepts that this is only the beginning of something much larger.
